Funeral services and a Mass of Christian Burial for Robert I. "Bob" Spragg, Sr., 82, a resident of Davenport, will be 10:00 a.m. on Monday, December 10, 2012 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Davenport. Burial will be at National Cemetery, Rock Island, Illinois with military rites will be provided by American Legion Post #299. Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. on Sunday at the Halligan McCabe DeVries Funeral Home, 614 Main Street, Davenport. All are invited to join the family at 5:00 to pray the Rosary. There will be additional visitation at the church Monday for one hour before the mass time. Robert died on Wednesday, December 6, 2012 at ManorCare Health Services, Davenport.
Robert Irwin Spragg was born on August 16, 1930 in Iowa City, Iowa, a son of Marion Ross and Blanche Spragg. After graduation, he enlisted in the Air Force, where he served his country in the Korean War, earning the rank of Sgt. He married Odell "Peggy" Cook on November 16, 1951 at Sacred Heart Church in Oelwein, Iowa. She preceded him in death on January 1, 2009.
Robert worked at the Rock Island Arsenal for the Department of the Army as a Logistic Assistant Rep for 14 years, retiring in 1992. He was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church and was elected president of the Sheriff's Posse twice and was a posse member for 12 years. For 9 years, he transported prisoners for the Sheriff's Department. He was a Federally Licensed Amateur Radio Operator since 1951, call name K0LIV. Robert was a member of the American Legion and a 4th degree knight with Knights of Columbus. He was knighted by Bishop Dingman.

Surviving Robert are his children, Robert (Nancy) Spragg, Jr., LeClaire, IA, Renee Spragg, Rhonda (William) Parris, both of Davenport, Roxanne (Bill) Powers, Kansas City, KS, Rose (Kevin) Little, Paducah, KY; 9 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren; a brother, Dale Wilken of Cedar Rapids.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy, his parents and siblings, Leonard, Helen, Marjorie, Ruth, Howard, and Louella. May they rest in peace.
