Funeral services and a Mass of Christian Burial for Mary Angela "Angie" (Farber) Curtis, 80, a resident of Bettendorf, will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, November 29, 2012 at Holy Family Catholic Church, Davenport. Burial will take place in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the Halligan McCabe DeVries Funeral Home, downtown Davenport with a rosary recited at 6:30 p.m. that all are invited to pray. Angie died Sunday, November 25, 2012 at Genesis Medical Center, East Rusholme Street following a brief illness.
Angie Farber was born on January 27, 1932 in Clinton, Iowa, a daughter of Raymond and Vera (Martin) Farber. She was raised in DeWitt until she started high school, and graduated from Immaculate Conception Academy, Davenport in 1950. She was united in marriage to Paul Curtis on December 26, 1997 at Holy Family Catholic Church, Davenport. He preceded her in death on October 5, 2005.
Angie was employed by the former Peterson-Harned-Von Maur for 10 years. She retired in 1990 from the Rock Island Arsenal, following 24 years as a supply specialist in the Defense Ammunition Directorate.
Angie was a member of the American Business Women's Association from 1970 until 1989 where she won numerous awards. She also was a former star volunteer for the Genesis Medical Center Auxiliary, and a member of Holy Family Church for over 66 years.
She was an avid reader, and enjoyed her lunch dates with former co-workers or classmates from ICA nearly every single day. Angie was also a proud cancer survivor of 45-plus years.
Memorials may be made to Holy Family Church.
She is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Margaret Eileen and Richard Loos, Davenport; nieces and nephew, Patty (Ron) Miller, Moline, Mike (Tammy) Loos, Davenport, and Beth Loos, Moline; great-nieces and nephews, Samantha (Landon) Geronzin, Erinn Shaffer, Billy Hermanson, Courtney Loos, and Brandon Loos; and Mr. Curtis' children: Bob (Pat) Curtis, Blue Grass, Fran (Salvador) Santos, Pueblo West, CO, Charles (Cammie) Curtis, Wheaton, IL, Paul (Wendy) Curtis, St. Petersburg, FL, and Connie (the late David Breece) Curtis.
She was preceded in death by her husband, a great-niece, Kelly Shaffer, and her parents. May they rest in peace.
