Funeral services celebrating the life of Anna M. Thiessen, 79, of Buffalo, will be 11:00 am Friday, October 26, 2012 in the All Faith Chapel at the Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, downtown Davenport. Visitation will be Thursday from 4-7:30 pm at the funeral home. Burial will be in National Cemetery, Rock Island Arsenal. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the family or Calvary Lutheran Church, Buffalo.
Mrs. Thiessen passed away Monday, October 22, 2012 at her home in Buffalo, Iowa
Anna Marie Olsen was born February 17, 1933 in Montpelier, Iowa, a daughter of Harold J. and Hazel Mae (Fullmer) Olsen. She was united in marriage to Kenneth William Thiessen on October 6, 1951 at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Buffalo, sharing over 60 years together until he preceded her in death one year ago to the day, October 22, 2011. She was an active member of Calvary Lutheran Church, Buffalo for over 20 years and considered them her second family.
Survivors include her children, Anita (Steve) Hippler, Moline, Kenneth "Bill" Jr. (Jonna) Thiessen, Davenport, Thomas (Wilma) Thiessen, Blue Grass, Kathy (Cole) Boersma, Buffalo, Michael Thiessen, Buffalo, Teresa (Randy) Plett, Davenport, Jeffrey (Debbie Banaszek) Thiessen, Rock Island, and Elizabeth (Ron) Brown, Walford, IA; 18 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; her sisters, Mildred Lowder, Davenport, Velma Parrish, Erie, CO and Juanita Barefoot, Raeford, NC; a sister-in-law, Mary Hazen, Davenport.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ken, son-in-law Leslie Boersma, grandson Michael, great granddaughter Trinity, her brothers, Harold, Jr., Otto, and Raymond, and a sister-in-law, Delores Olsen.
Anna's family wishes to thank Dr. Mario Sy and his staff, and the Genesis Hospice staff for the compassionate care given to their mother.
