Funeral services and Mass of Catholic Burial for Anthony B. "Tony" Remke, 97, a resident of Pensacola, Florida, formerly of Davenport, will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, October 1, 2012 at Sacred Heart Cathedral, 422 E. 10th Street, Davenport. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Davenport. Visitation will be today, Sunday, September 30, 2012 at the Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, 614 Main Street, downtown Davenport, from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. There will be a prayer service offered at 4:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions may be made to Sacred Heart Cathedral Parish at 422 E. 10th St., Davenport, IA 52803. Tony died on Tuesday, September 25, 2012 at The Haven of Our Lady of Peace in Pensacola, FL.

Anthony Bernard Remke was born in December of 1914 in Ossian, Iowa to Herman and Elizabeth (Brincks) Remke and lived there until his father's death when he was 10, whereupon he lived with relatives in Elma, Iowa. He later migrated to Davenport, where he met and married his wife of 66 years, Louise (Kloppenborg) Remke and raised four children while working as a welder at International Harvester in East Moline, IL. After Louise's death in 2004, he lived in Vero Beach and Pensacola, FL among family. He was preceded in death by his wife, 10 brothers and sisters, and a granddaughter. He was active in the Knights of Columbus, a member of The Holy Name Society, Legion of Mary and Sacred Heart Cathedral Parish, where he was a frequent usher. He also served as a member of the Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Pallbearer Club. Tony and Louise both performed duties as extra-ordinary ministers to the aged, shut-ins and nursing home residents for many years.

Survivors include his daughter Regina (Jean) Bremhorst and her husband John of Des Moines, IA; son, John "Jack" Remke of Vero Beach, FL, and his wife Carolyn; son, Adrian "Andy" Remke and his wife Pat of Pensacola, FL; and son, A. Joseph "Joe" Remke of Fairway, KS. Tony is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

The family would also like to thank all the employees at The Haven of Our Lady of Peace and Covenant Hospice for their excellent care and support.
