Earl E. Erbstein, 92, a resident of Rock Island, died Friday, December 14, 2012, at St. Mary's Healthcare and Rehabilitation, Davenport. Mr. Erbstein passed following a brief illness.
There will be a graveside service at 2:30 (today) Saturday, December 15, 2012 at Davenport Memorial Park. If you would like to go to the cemetery in procession you are welcome to join the family at the Halligan – McCabe – DeVries Funeral Home, 614 Main Street downtown, Davenport, today at 2:00 p.m. There will be no public visitation.
Earl Edward Erbstein was born July 9, 1920 in Moline, Illinois a son of, Louis and Sadie (Tenenbom) Erbstein. He graduated from the first graduating class of Rock Island High School.
Earl retired from the U.S Postal Service; he had been a clerk for the Rock Island USPS, retiring in 1981. He had previously worked at the Rock Island Arsenal.
He enjoyed spending time outdoors; he especially enjoyed Crappie fishing and working in his garden.
Memorials can be made to the Christian Care Rescue Mission, 2209 – 3rd Ave. Rock Island, Illinois 61201.
Those left to honor his memory include his fiancé, Patricia A. Sturms, and her family; Dennis (Janice) Sturms, Curtis Sturms, Craig Sturms, and Kathleen (Chuck) Daniels; her ten grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Birdie Brock.
