James R. Lauser, 65, a resident of Davenport died Sunday, October 14, 2012 at East Moline Nursing and Rehab Center, East Moline, IL.
The Memorial Funeral Services to celebrate Jim's life will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, October 20, 2012 at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, Davenport. Per Jim's wishes, he has deeded his body to the University of Iowa for research purposes.
James Richard Lauser was born October 19, 1946 in Muscatine, Iowa to Richard Dean Lauser and Jeanne E. (Zybarth) Lauser Kulp. He was united in marriage to Barbara A. Johnson Lauser on April 30, 1974 at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Davenport, Iowa.
Jim graduated from Assumption High School in 1964 and attended St. Ambrose University and Palmer College. He was employed in Maintenance at Nichols Aluminum, retiring in 1985. Jim was an optimistic, positive guy. He enjoyed golfing, playing cards, dancing and was an avid sports fan, especially for the Iowa Hawkeyes. He was a gym teacher for the church for 15 years.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church or to the family.
Survivors include his loving wife of 38 years, Barb, Princeton, IA (formerly of Davenport), niece, Lisa Foote, Tucson, AZ; mother-in-law, Margaret L. Johnson, Princeton, IA; brother-in-law, Roger W. (Janine) Johnson, Princeton, IA; nephews, Roger M. (Angie) Johnson, Rock Island, and Nathen Johnson, Davenport; niece, Jennifer (Tim) McCracken, Princeton and great nieces, Cameryn, Hayley, Samantha and Holly. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Janice Lauser and step-father, William E. Kulp. May they rest in peace.
