Funeral services and a Mass of Christian Burial for Joseph A. Kubatska, 67, a resident of Davenport, formerly of Buffalo will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, October 20, 2012 at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, 2618 Boies Avenue, Davenport. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Davenport. The family will greet friends Friday from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Halligan McCabe DeVries Funeral Home, 614 Main Street, downtown Davenport. There will be a Franciscan wake service offered at 6:45 p.m.
Joseph died Tuesday, October 16, 2012 at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, Iowa surrounded by his loving family. He died following a brief illness and complications from kidney disease.
Joseph Anthony Kubatska was born January 31, 1945 in Davenport, Iowa a son of John Leonard and Marie Helen (Rubena) Kubastka. He was a 1963 graduate of Davenport Assumption High School. He received his Associates Degree from The Culinary Institute of America, New Haven, CT.
He was united in marriage to Raynell Joan Lesnick on June 7, 1975 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Davenport.
He had been employed for many years at Oscar Mayer Corporation as a machinist operator retiring in1997. He then went to work for the culinary department at Isle of Capri retiring in 2000.
Joe was a member of the Secular Franciscan Order and had been a Brother of St. Pius, DeSoto, Wisconsin. He participated in the St. Alphonsus Church Fish Fry, Holy Name Men's Group and CASI. Joe enjoyed cooking, reading, embroidering and traveling.
Memorials may be made to an educational fund for his grandchildren.
Survivors include his loving wife Raynell, a son Gerry (fiancé Marie Gibbs) Kubatska, Davenport, a daughter, Theresa (Chad) Lee, Buffalo; grandchildren, Emma, Olivia, Lillian Joe, and Renee.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister in infancy, Theresa.
