Funeral services to celebrate the life of Kathleen P. Stahle, 72, a resident of Bettendorf will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 11, 2012 in the All Faith Chapel at the Halligan – McCabe – DeVries Funeral Home, 614 Main Street, downtown Davenport. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Davenport. Visitation will be Monday, December 10, 2012, from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mrs. Stahle passed away peacefully with family by her side Friday, December 7, 2012 at Trinity Pathway Hospice.
Kathleen Phyllis Kernan was born April 13, 1940 in Davenport, a daughter of Paul L. and Dorothy M. (Keefe) Kernan. She graduated from the Immaculate Conception Academy. She was united in marriage to Gerald Omer Stahle on May 30, 1960 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Bettendorf. He preceded her in death on January 25, 1984.
Kathy owned and operated, "The Cakery", in Bettendorf for many years. Following the passing of her husband Jerry, she stepped in to assist in replacing his role and became a partner at K & K Hardware, Bettendorf. She then fulfilled her dream of someday owning a restaurant; she co-owned and operated Kernan's Restaurant in Princeton, Iowa for many years.
She had a wonderful sense of humor and could brighten any room she entered; she especially cherished the time she spent with her family, her grandchildren and great grandchildren were a constant source of pride. Kathy also enjoyed the outdoors, camping and golfing; as well as playing cards with family and friends.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the nursing staff at Trinity Medical Center and to Dr. Radhika Kolla for all the compassionate care they provide to their mother.
Memorials can be made to the Kathleen P. Stahle Memorial Fund.
Those left to honor her memory include her children and their spouses, Laurie Hoffman, Eldridge, Susie and Dave Rueter, DeWitt, Iowa, Ann Stahle, Bettendorf, Mike and Amy Stahle, Bettendorf, Carolyn and Steve Petersen, Preston, Iowa, Kris and Lonny Kirby, Princeton, Iowa, and Peggy and Daryl Welke, Princeton; grandchildren, Brian Frahs, Sara (Nate) Folker, Allison Rueter, Lauren (James) Keller, Rachel Stahle, Amanda Stahle, Tom Stahle, Andy Petersen, Kiley Petersen, Justin Kirby, Katie Kirby, Maggie Kirby, Hailey Kirby, and Jenna Kirby, two great grandchildren, Abby Keller and Ava Keller; her sisters, Marianne (Gene) Weis, Bettendorf, Colleen (Rod) Morthland, Princeton, Eileen (Don) Stichter, Arizona, Patty (Rudy) Morgan, Princeton, a brother, Mike (Sue) Kernan, Princeton, a brother-in-law, Rich Lassiter, Princeton, and a close family friend, Doug Steen, Princeton.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Jerry, brothers, Pat and Terry Kernan, a sister, Maggie Lassiter, and a great granddaughter, Leah Keller. May they rest in peace.
