Services to celebrate the life of Kimberly M. "Kimmy" Rieck, 24, a resident of Davenport, will be 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 18, 2012, in the All Faith Chapel at the Halligan – McCabe – DeVries Funeral Home, 614 Main Street, downtown Davenport. The family will greet friends Tuesday from 3:00 p.m. until the time of services. Honoring Kimmy's request the family would like those attending the celebration to dress country casual…..wear your boots!
Cremation rites will be accorded after the celebration of life and Kimmy's cremains will eventually be buried in Missouri. There will be an additional celebration of her life on Wednesday, September 19, 2012 at Sharon Hobart's, "Windy Hills Ranch" 5528 Telegraph Road, west Davenport. Friends may gather there after 3:00 p.m. Wednesday for fellowship and food.
Kimmy passed away Saturday, September 15, 2012, at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics, Iowa City, Iowa. She had fought a courageous eight month battle.
Kimberly Mae Rieck was born June 19, 1988, in Davenport, the daughter of Peggy Leanne Dunaway and David Richard Rieck. She was baptized at St. Mark's Lutheran Church. She graduated from Davenport West High School and was currently attending Brown Mackie College. She was employed as an assistant manager at Quiznos on 53rd Street.
Kimberly, a longtime active member of the Silver Spurs Saddle Club, had a passion for horses. She loved riding and showing her horse at events like the Mississippi Valley Fair. She also loved attending hockey games and hanging out with her friends. She will always be remembered for her unlimited energy, her strong inner strength, and her infectious smiling personality.
Memorials can be made to the Kimmy M. Rieck Fund.
Those left to cherish her memory include, her mother, Peggy Dunaway, her father, David (Kerrie) Rieck, brother, Michael (Megan) Rieck, nephew, Tanner Rieck, her fiancé, Brandon Rasdon, step-father, Perry Otten, grandparents, Billie (Ray) Howerton, Patricia McNamara, and Rick Rieck, all of Davenport, aunts, uncles, and cousins, and her faithful companions, her dog, Denver, and her horse, Scooter.
