Funeral services and Mass of Christian Burial for Liliane T. Owens, 75, of Davenport will be 10a.m. Wednesday, November 21, 2012 at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, Davenport. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park. Visitation will be 4-7p.m. Tuesday at the Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home Davenport. There will be additional visitation Wednesday from 9:30a.m. until time of service at the church. Memorials may be made to the church or to the family.
Liliane passed away Thursday, November 15, 2012 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics following complications from a stroke on Wednesday.
Liliane Therese Aline Duclaux was born March 5, 1937 in Paris, France, a daughter of Blanche (Gestin) Duclaux. She immigrated to the United States on July 14, 1946, along with her mother and step father Lawrence Underwood, and sister Josette. She was united in marriage to Earl D. "Dewayne" Owens on June 16, 1956 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Davenport.
Liliane worked in the sales departments of the former Scharff's before becoming a homemaker and later at Petersen's.
She was a member of Therese Circle at St. Paul's and in earlier years had been the PTA President at Washington School as well as a Girl Scout Leader.
Liliane and her husband raised six children. She loved to sew, knit and crochet and her skills won her many blue ribbons at the Mississippi Valley Fair. She also enjoyed traveling and taking cruises with her husband and was always looking forward to the next trip.
In addition to her husband Dewayne, survivors include her children and their spouses Cindy (Geoffrey) Soltau, Davenport, Michelle Owens, Davenport, Randall (Debra) Owens, Davenport, Elizabeth Owens, Mt. Vernon, WA, Angela (John) Mealy, Davenport, and Janette (Mike) Dooley, Lynchburg, VA; eleven grandchildren; sister Josette Lyons, Davenport; sister-in-law Nancy (Bill) Moore, Phoenix, AZ; and a special aunt Dodie (Bill) Croxton-Stookey, Geneseo, IL.
