Funeral services to celebrate the life of Lynne S. Allen, 57, a resident of Bettendorf, will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 24, 2012 at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 4097 – 18th Street, Bettendorf. Burial will take place at St. Ann's Cemetery, Long Grove. Visitation will be Friday from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Halligan McCabe DeVries Funeral Home, 614 Main Street, downtown Davenport. There will be an additional visitation from 9:00 until the time of the service Saturday at the church. Surrounded by family, Lynne passed away peacefully on Friday, November 16, 2012 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center, Des Moines.
Lynne Suzanne Carlson was born on January 1, 1955 in Clarion, Iowa, the daughter of R. Wesley and Lola (Mimbach) Carlson. She graduated from the University of Iowa with a BA in Business Administration. Lynne was united in marriage to Andrew Allen on July 1, 2011. She was previously married to Jeffrey Duffy on December 20, 1975.
Lynne worked for the North Scott Community School District as an administrative assistant to business affairs. Prior to that, she was the parish administrative assistant at St. Ann's in Long Grove.
Lynne loved being with her family, especially spending time with her young grandchildren. She enjoyed walking, running, biking, and other outdoor activities. Lynne was active with various school activities and booster clubs at North Scott Community High School. She enjoyed the friendship of many and will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
Lynne is survived by her husband, Andrew, Bettendorf; children and their spouses: Jann and Matt Robie, Ankeny, Iowa, Erin and Matt Horst, Statesboro, Georgia, and Matt Duffy, Eldridge, Iowa; a step-daughter, Kristin Allen, Eldridge, Iowa; grandchildren: Lucas, Nicholas, and Jackson Robie; Mallory, Creighton, and Brant Horst; her parents: R. Wesley and Lola Carlson, Humboldt, Iowa; brothers: Terry (Pert) Carlson, California, Tom (Tina) Carlson, Wisconsin, and Todd (Sara) Carlson, Iowa; mother-in-law, LaVerne Klima, Arizona; sisters-in-law, Andrea (Mike) Mann, Illinois, and Carol Schobert, North Carolina, and her loving extended family.
She was preceded in death by her brother Tim Carlson.
