A Mass of Christian Burial for Marisue McDowell, 78, a resident of Bettendorf will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, September 24, 2012 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 1506 Brown Street, Bettendorf. The family will greet friends Monday in the gathering space at the church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Mass. Burial will be in National Cemetery, Rock Island Arsenal. Marisue died peacefully Wednesday, September 19, 2012, at her home in Bettendorf surrounded by her family. Marisue Marlene McCoy was born January 5, 1934, in Clinton, Iowa, a daughter of Leo and Alma (Lafayette) McCoy. She was united in marriage to George H. McDowell, in Welton, Iowa on January 29, 1955.
Survivors include her husband, George, Bettendorf and their seven children; six daughters; Shawn (Michael) Pitton, Iowa City, Pam Steele, Davenport, Sally (Thomas) Dickey, Dubuque, Jane (John) Reid, Davenport, Polly McDowell (Ken Harkins), Davenport, Laurie (Steve Ott) Denison, Bettendorf; and a son, Ron McDowell, Davenport; nine grandchildren, Brianna (Aaron), Mallory, Tanya, Toby, Bailey (Josh), Sara, Ben, Morgan, Daniel, Emily and Jordan; three great grandchildren; her siblings; a sister, Janice (David) Eckelberg, Medical Lake, WA, and her brothers, John (Barb) McCoy, Iowa City and Bill McCoy, East Moline; as well as numerous other extended family members. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Beverly Geers and a son-in-law, Tom Steele. May they rest in peace.
The Halligan – McCabe – DeVries Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Memorials can be made to the Handicapped Development Center, Davenport. A special thank you to Karen and her team at Genesis Hospice for the love and care they provided to our mother.
