A Memorial Mass for Maureen Claire Wright, 72, a resident of Bettendorf, will be 11:30 a.m. Thursday, September 13, 2012 at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 4097- 18th Street, Bettendorf. Visitation will be Thursday from 10:00 until the time of the Mass at the church. Keeping with Maureen's wishes, cremation rites have been accorded and inurnment will take place at a later date. Maureen passed away Sunday, September 9, 2012 at Trinity, Bettendorf surrounded by her loving family. Halligan McCabe DeVries is assisting the family with arrangements.
Maureen Claire Shanley was born on November 16, 1939 in Davenport, a daughter of late Maurice and Clara (Mackin) Shanley. She attended Davenport Catholic Schools and graduated from St. Anthony's School of Nursing in 1961. She was married to the late Richard Wright in 1965. They later divorced.
Maureen went to work as a nurse at St. Anthony's Hospital in Rock Island. She later worked at St. Luke's Hospital, Davenport, from 1971 until 1982. Later, she was also employed by Davenport Medical Center, and Jackson County Regional Health Center.
She was a member of Catholic Service Board and volunteered bringing communion to the sick and home bound of St. John Vianney Parish, along with various other volunteer activities.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. John Vianney Church, The Kahl Home, Davenport, or Cinderella's Cellar, Davenport.
Maureen is survived by her daughters, Beth (Joe) Perrotta of Liverpool, NY, and Missy, (Wayne) Hogenson, of Warsaw, IN; grandchildren, Caitlyn and Daniel Perrotta and Jennifer, Laura, Riley, Brock Hogenson, a sister, Liz (Jack) Keimig of Davenport, and brothers, Merle (Joyce) Shanley, of Bettendorf, and Greg (Pamn) Shanley of Portage, MI; and several nieces and nephews.
