Burial will take place in Pleasant Valley Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. There will be additional visitation Thursday from 10:00 until the time of the service at the funeral home. Pat passed away on Sunday, December 2, 2012 at Clarissa C. Patricia Mae Cassilly was born on March 14, 1934 in Davenport, a daughter of Merle and Margaret (Zirkel) Cassilly. She graduated from LeClaire High School where she was a cheerleader and sang in the chorus. While a teenager, Pat played the organ at the former St. Henry's Catholic Church, LeClaire.
Pat was united in marriage to Donald D. Wakeland on September 20, 1952 at St. Henry's. This past September they celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.
Pat worked for Iowa Bearing Company, and retired from the former Montgomery Elevator Company in 1990. Never one to relax after her retirement, she delivered newspapers for the Q.C. Times in the Deerbrook Area for many years. She also worked as a demo associate at Eagle Food Center Stores, Target Superstore, and lastly at Sam's Club.
When Pat did have free time, she enjoyed knitting, scrapbooking, tending to her garden, and never missed an opportunity to be around family. She was also a devoted fan of Elvis.
Pat was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Hannah Caldwell Chapter.
Memorials may be made to the family to establish a memorial at a later date.
Pat is survived by her husband, Donald, Bettendorf; daughter, Debbie White, Eldridge; sons and daughters-in-law, Steve and Paula Wakeland, Pleasant Valley, Mark and Jean Wakeland, Paul and Lorrie Wakeland, and David, all of Bettendorf; a daughter-in-law, Carol Wakeland, Davenport; granddaughters: Meghan (Josh) Peterson, Angela (Jake) Klemme, Trisha (Keith) Braafhart, and Michele Wakeland; grandsons, Ben (Angie) Wakeland, Bryan (Karen) Wakeland, Jeff, Jon, and Tommy Wakeland, and Jacob White; great-grandsons: Evan, Grayson, and Cole Peterson, Kaden and Nolan Klemme, James Patrick, Zachary, and Trenton Wakeland; a great-granddaughter, Isabella Klemme; special nieces: Gail Hodges-Levis, Beth Hodges, Cathy Hodges-Rech, Judy Hodges-Fristik, and Suzie Hodges-Schwartz.
She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Nicole Lynn Wakeland (1981), her parents Margaret and Merle Cassilly (1965), and a sister and brother-in-law, Beverly (1995) and Dr. Jim Hodges (2009).
