Funeral Services and Mass of Christian Burial for René R. DeKwae, 90, a resident of the Kahl Home, Davenport, and formerly a resident of Durant, Iowa, will be 11:15 a.m. Thursday, December 6, 2012, at the Kahl Home Chapel, 6701 Jersey Ridge Rd. Davenport. Burial will be in Durant Cemetery, Durant, Iowa. The family will greet friends Thursday at the Kahl Home from 10:15 a.m. until the time of the service.
René died peacefully Thursday November 29, 2012 at the Kahl Home; he had family at his side at the time of his passing.
René Roger DeKwae was born May 2, 1922 in Tielt, Belgium, the son of Constant and Maria (Lambert) DeKwae. He was united in marriage to Dorothy Lucille Lamp on April 15, 1961 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Davenport. She preceded him in death August 21, 2011.
He immigrated to the United States with his uncle René Lambert in 1948, and farmed for a number of years. He then became a meat cutter by trade, and retired from the former Eagles Food Store.
He and his wife Dorothy had been longtime members of Holy Family Church, Davenport.
He enjoyed woodworking and gardening.

René is survived by many family members in Belgium and the U.S.
