Memorial services to celebrate the life of Shirley A. Collins, 65, of Davenport, will be 6:30 p.m. on Friday, October 19, 2012 at the Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, 614 Main Street, downtown Davenport. The family will greet friends Friday from 3:30 p.m. until the time of the service. In accordance with her wishes the rite of cremation has been accorded. Shirley passed away Tuesday, October 16, 2012 at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf surrounded by her family. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a favorite charity of your choice.
Shirley Ann Bailey was born June 6, 1947 in Davenport the daughter of John and Esther (Petersen) Bailey. She was a 1965 graduate of Assumption High School. Shirley had been employed in property control at Rock Island Integrated Services for the past 23 years.
She was an avid reader, gardener and knitter, and thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her loving grandchildren.
Survivors include her daughters, Sheila (Mike) Daily, Bettendorf and Sarah (Brad) Nyenhuis, Davenport; grandchildren, Jennifer Collins, Jeffery Nipper, Jaide Nipper, Jordan Knox, Jared Daily, Jamissen Daily, Andrew Nyenhuis and Zachary Nyenhuis; siblings, Tom (Basita) Bailey, Ann Sabel, Paul (Denise) Bailey, Neil (Anita) Bailey, Bridget Delap, Don Bailey, Ruth (Ralph) Roesler, Jim (Diana) Bailey; her best friend Kathleen (Chuck) Miller, Davenport.
She was preceded her in death by her parents and sisters, Monica Bailey and Carol Arpy. May they rest in peace.
