Funeral services to celebrate the life of Judi Britt, 67, a resident of Davenport, will be 12:00 p.m. Monday, February 20, 2012 at the Halligan McCabe DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport. Burial will take place in St. Ann's Cemetery, Long Grove. Visitation will be from 10:00 until the time of the service Monday at the funeral home. Judi died Wednesday, February 15, 2012 at her residence following a battle with breast cancer.
Judi was born on March 6, 1944 in Maquoketa, Iowa, a daughter of Lawrence L. Cook and Evelyn A. (Hopson) Hicks. She was united in marriage to Lawrence "Larry" Britt on May 26, 1979 in Maquoketa. Larry preceded her in death on October 25, 2010.
Judi had worked as a teacher's aide at Monroe Elementary, Davenport. She was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church. Judi cherished the times she spent with her grandkids and nephews and spoiling her dog, Murphy. She also enjoyed reading, camping, and playing cards.
Memorials may be made to Genesis Cancer Care Institute.
Judi is survived by her step-sons, Mike (Mary Gail) Britt, Lawrenceville, GA, Patrick (Gretchen) Britt, Bozeman, MT, and Terry Britt, Davenport; grandchildren, Beth (Wes) Wood, Devin Britt, Andrew, Emily, and Maddie Britt, and Katie Marie Britt; siblings: Larry Cook, Maquoketa, IA; Dick Hicks, MO, Kitty (Gery) Oestern, Maquoketa, and Theresa (Stan) Aurand, Dixon, IL; a sister-in-law, Rita (Joseph) O'Brien, Wellesley, MA; a brother-in-law, Jerry Britt, Cambridge, IL; numerous loving aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews; and her faithful canine companion, Murphy.
Judi was preceded in death by her loving husband, Larry; her parents; a step-son, Thomas in 2004, and a grandson, Ben in 2007. May they rest in peace.
