Funeral services and Mass of Christian Burial for Robert G. "Bob" Marriott, 76, of Davenport, will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, February 18, 2012 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Davenport. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Friday, at the Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport, where a prayer service will be offered at 4 p.m. to begin the visitation. Honoring his wishes the rite of cremation will follow after services. Inurnment will be at a later date in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Davenport. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mary's Catholic Church.
Bob passed away Tuesday, February 14, 2012 at Heartland Healthcare Center, Moline, IL after a brief illness.
Robert George Marriott was born November 22, 1935 in Davenport, Iowa, a son of Chester and Marie (Kennedy) Marriott. He was united in marriage to Janice Hocker on June 28, 1958 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Rock Island, IL.
Bob had worked for Wagner's Printers for over 40 years and was a Past President of the Q.C. Craftsmen's Club. He was avid Iowa Hawkeye fan and golfer, playing in the Davenport Muny Golf Club for many years. He was a member of the Elks Club and lifelong member of St. Mary's Church.
Survivors include his wife of over 53 years, Janice and their sons and daughters in law; Bob and Mary Jo Marriott, Moline and Tim and Julie Marriott, Normal, IL; seven grandchildren and one great granddaughter; his brothers, Jim (Bev) Marriott, Waukesha, WI, Dick (Vicki) Marriott, Elk Grove Village, IL, Bill Marriott, Peoria, IL, a brother-in-law, Ed Brown, Davenport.
In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by two sisters, Marge Brown, and Mary Pat, his brother and two sisters-in law, Tom and Rose Marriott, and Nita Marriott.
The Marriott family would like to extend a special thank you to Heartland Healthcare Center in Moline and to the Oncology Department at Trinity Hospital, Rock Island for the compassionate care given to Bob.
