Funeral services and a Mass of Christian Burial for Sheree Lynn DeWulf, 55, a resident of DeWitt, will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 21, 2012 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 417 – 6th Avenue, DeWitt. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, DeWitt. Visitation will be at church on Friday starting at 3:00 p.m. and ending with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. There will be an additional visitation at church Saturday morning from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service. Halligan McCabe DeVries Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Sheree died Tuesday, January 17, 2012 at her residence following a courageous battle with cancer surrounded by her loving family and friends.
Sheree Lynn Harmon was born on January 6, 1957 in Burlington, North Carolina to Samuel and Peggy (Clark) Harmon. She was married to Walter Holm in January of 1974. She later married Donald DeWulf on April 21, 2000 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Sheree worked as a Sales Manager for Frontier Group/Steeplegate Inns in both Clinton and Davenport. She also worked at Wholistic Family Chiropractic, Davenport, as a Certified Wholistic Therapist and at the Healing Heart Center. She became passionate about holistic healing after personally experiencing its benefits.
Traveling, going to the ocean and watching sunrises and sunsets were a few of the things Sheree loved to do. She looked forward to her annual trips to Mexico, North Carolina and Florida, being around her family and friends, shopping at Von Maur and her Thursday golf outings with the ladies at Springbrook Country Club. Sheree was known and loved for her distinctive laugh and for "blowing her horn" at birthdays or special occasions.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Joseph's Catholic School or Genesis Hospice.
Surviving Sheree is her husband, Donald, children, Jesse (Vikki) Holm, Clinton, Shawn Holm, Davenport, Brandi (Ike) Hurning, DeWitt, Gina (Pete) Loken, Davenport and Matt DeWulf, Davenport; grandchildren, Anna Hurning, Emma Hurning, James Hurning, Madeline Hurning, Brett and Samantha Nielsen, and Lauren and Madeline Loken; father, Sam Harmon, Clinton; siblings, Sam (Cyndi) Harmon, Ottawa, IL, Sandi (George) Sills, Clinton and Jeff (Julie) Harmon, Clinton; numerous nieces and nephews; mother-in-law, Hazel DeWulf, sister-in-law, Shirley Kay (Bill Savala), and her canine companion, Brutus.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Peggy Harmon, an aunt, Joan Clark, and a cousin, Rhonda Harmon. May they rest in peace. Online remembrances and condolences may be expressed to the family by visiting Sheree's obituary at www.hmdfuneralhome.com.
